How to use the hair color quiz

  1. 1Choose your current color depth, including previous color if it is still in your hair.
  2. 2Tell us whether you prefer warm, cool or flexible tones and how much upkeep you want.
  3. 3Compare the suggested references and discuss your color history with a qualified colorist.

Method & limitations

We shortlist existing catalog shades by tone preference and maintenance tolerance. Lower-upkeep results stay closer to the selected starting depth. Higher-upkeep choices can include light or vivid directions, with an explicit note that the reference does not establish how your hair will lift. The quiz does not calculate bleach strength, mixing ratios or a guaranteed final shade.

Start with your current hair, not only a target photo

A shade that looks subtle on one starting color can require a much bigger change on another. Previous color, the condition of the ends and the placement of lighter pieces matter. Use the current-depth answer as a rough starting point, then explain your full color history to your stylist. A photo in the catalog illustrates a direction, not the process needed to achieve it.

Choose the upkeep you actually want

Think about the contrast you are comfortable seeing at the roots and whether you enjoy maintaining a vivid tone. Lower-upkeep inspiration stays closer to your selected depth; a lighter or more vivid suggestion is marked as a discussion for a colorist. The quiz does not promise a fixed appointment interval, because placement and your own hair growth change the schedule.

Compare the same color in more than one setting

A monitor, warm indoor light and daylight can make the same shade appear different. Save two or three references and describe what you like in each: warmth, brightness, depth or contrast. You can combine that vocabulary with your seasonal palette preferences while keeping the actual salon decision grounded in your hair history and comfort with maintenance.

Common questions

Will the result show the color on my own hair?

No. Results show clearly labeled fictional model references from our catalog. This quiz does not edit your photo or predict an exact dye result.

Does this give a bleach or dye formula?

No. It supplies a shortlist and questions for a colorist. Processing decisions require information and assessment that this quiz does not have.

Is skin tone required?

No. You choose the warm, cool or flexible tones you want to explore. The quiz does not infer which colors you are allowed to wear from your skin or ethnicity.
